Yes, he does having me thinking about writing a different way and make things funnier and interesting because if you write something simple you won’t want to finish reading it that’s something I will do. When I was reading David Sedaris it was very interesting that I want to knew what going to happen next it makes his chapters so much fun and interesting. It makes you want to read more and finish the book.

  4. Michael Pearson says:

I do find myself thinking about writing as well as reading differently. In the past I would have read these stories while trying to figure how how and why I should like them, than I would have written something that I thought the teacher would want to hear. Not I am reading it with no agenda coming to my own conclusions and writing about those Ideas. It does make the writing much more enjoyable when I get to write to my own thoughts and not to those that I think someone else has.

Sedaris has me inspired of trying to think back to some “bad memories” and trying to find the humor of the situations that I don’t like recalling.

I would like to be humorous but unfortunately I not. I hope that by reading Sedaris’ essays some of his humor or sarcasm will rub off on me subconsciously

I feel like i can’t right the way he does. Sadly, however his vocabulary would effect my writing.

The style he has in my opinion is to different to my style of composition. I do think his vocabulary I will be able to learn and use in my own writing.

personally I have only written for school so it had to be serious or it was subjects that I was not interested in so I couldn’t joke about them in my papers/writings. However after writing in a notebook for just myself it is more freeing and easier to joke around about the things that are happening in my own life. Also after researching and reading David Sedaris it makes me want to reflect each day and just laugh at the things that made me angry that day because it helps me get past them.

this is the first time i have ever had such an interest in an English class. before starting the semester i was pretty nervous especially with the fact that it was going to be online and not knowing exactly what the platform was going to be like weather it was through zoom or canvas, but i feel very good about it and have had a great experience so far. i enjoy being able to share my thoughts and opinions and get civilized responses and feedback, cause you cant really do that on any social media platforms, you just get a bunch of people telling you you’re wrong and you criticizing you. i’m enjoying reading this book by Sedaris and i look forward to the next 2.

  31. My day has been Me going throughout my schedule back in forth in the morning trying to check for my other class that started today with sleeping in after being done with the beginning. My reading method is just reading through the text and remembering the parts that would probably be most important; for insight on this author I have nothing to say. A observation was the quote of him sounding like shrek. It just lets me know that you can be more cunning in your writing.
