As I said earlier I have finished but need to reread a few passages. I really enjoyed her story Real housewives of Kalamazoo. The part where she is trying to get Siri to get her directions to the the woods and she says that Siri gave a long sigh and said “Bitch, are you sure”.

The last essay I read was “Will we have children and if we do, will you change diapers”. My thought is that she doesn’t want children because she doesn’t want to be taking care of a child and she wants to have all the time for herself.

The last essay I read from Irby’s book was, ‘The Case of Remaining Indoors”, which I now I think is funny considering how we all know a little something of remaining indoors too lol but I really enjoyed it. She is very detailed and everything she says I totally agree with. Like her, I’m not a huge summer person, I prefer the fall and winter and her reasonings are totally relatable

Irby’s style is honest and humorous. She is honest about her life and her experiences even though it can be serious but can make something negative = positive

she is a person that has the humor to write and could make anyone laugh. “The book didn’t make me laugh out loud. it made me laugh silently wheezing and crying until my sides ached”.

I find her style easy, and not as in lacking any skill or effectiveness, but as I’ve said before ‘inviting’. And, universal.

  11. Her style is more open minded because she really doesn’t care who she is talking too she talks the same way to everyone she doesn’t try to change the way she is for anyone or in any situation

  12. Her style is casual, nothing too fancy, easy to read and I can form my opinion without doubting myself, like I did with Sedaris

I agree! I feel like although Sedaris was interesting, he did have a more sophisticated style that would cause me to over think it, whereas Irby is way more casual and just says it like it is, making it easier for me to form an option!

I’m in the living room. Tall ceilings, white walls without decoration. I should probably convince my parents to get some, since it looks so empty. Sitting by me, is an old steinway & sons piano, I’m so proud it. The room is clean simple and doesn’t have any fancy things which crazy designs. Very quiet.

the last essay i read was I’m in love and it’s boring. even though it was pretty short it felt like watching a romantic movie with a not so happy ending. sorry if i spoiled it for anyone. but it started off with all the romance and the perfected first meeting to ending with a “We could’ve been a good thing”.

Samantha Irby uses a narrative writing style. Most of her stories have a beginning, middle, and end but she gets there different ways. In her first essay, My Bachelorette Application, she has a little introduction (beginning) then goes straight into telling us what she wrote on the application (the middle). She finishes with her qualifications which are mostly her own opinions (end). She has a similar written. essay with You do not Have to be Grateful for Sex, Short story to lead off the essay about the dude’s chub (beginning), goes into a list of all the hot guys she slept with and the stories behind them (middle), then finishes the essay with a conclusion that is pretty much the title of the essay (end). She uses this traditional narrative writing style in a completely untraditional way. of course, sometimes she will tell us a story with a normal beginning, middle, and end like, A Christmas Carol, but most times she likes to spice things up with an unorthodox essay style to tell her stories such as the two examples above. This nontraditional way of writing makes it very relatable to the common person such as myself and makes every essay different and refreshing.

I’m currently sitting, burrito in hand, in downstairs living room. There is no upstairs living room, just clarify it happens to be downstairs. There is a lot of art on the walls. Some of it very much geometric modern art stuff made by my aspiring artist half brother which i look up too. several musical instruments on the walls my mom calls “decorations”. Its maybe a 25′ by 15′ foot room (medium to smallish room, hope that’s what 15×25 means) that separated by a large pillar creating a open doored one fourth section of the house kitchen. Being a family of average american income whilst living in Sebastopol entails a “comfy” sized apartment but i rather like it.

I noticed that with Irbys style she tends to start with one story and then give a flash back to another story in order to give you more insight into what she is feeling and then goes back to her original story. so her style is as if though she is talking to you i n person because i do this all the time only it seems to make more sense when its written down because when i do it i feel like im all over the place and the person im telling me story to loses interest

The last essay I read was the actually the last one, I finished the book fairly fast which I’m very impressed by myself. I usually don’t get it done for a while. Also, how I would describe her style is very raw and unfiltered. She’s literally writing anything that comes to mind down on paper whether it’s something we want to hear or not. So she’s very genuine in her writing and you can easily tell that,

(My Writing Prompt, had to catch up sorry) Right now I am in my media room. It’s very quiet besides the fans coming from my computer. Sort of cramped in this room. No windows, and very blank walls. I spend most of my time in this room when I have to work on school. This room doesn’t sound all that great, but it’s a nice place to drain out noise and collect your thoughts and get work done.
