Emma behind me having conversations with herself and imaginary characters over the button pushing and sounds of a toy cash register. 

I smile and laugh a little to myself, she doesn’t hear me.  Just continues with her business and play.

“What kind of business are you running, Mama?”

“Grocery market.” The simplicity and firmness of her answer makes me smile again.  So into character, so dedicated and exploratory with her language.

Finish the latte, planning day in my head which doesn’t have much of a plan to it.

Writing the book by not writing it but living.  From this weekend with the kids, to the drive out to VV later.  Waking early tomorrow and now surveying this character, this draft of Mike Madigan.

Sunday, hear the bells from the Church a couple blocks away.  Windsor, I live here.  Years ago I fantasized about a place like this, close to the Green and our favorite spots.
