English 5 – 2/10/21, Wednesday

5-5:10pm:  How are you?  Tell us some TRUTH from your day…

5:10-5:30pm:  What singular idea are you consistently feeling in Lawson’s work?  Could you write a 3 to 4-page essay on it?  How would you start?

5:30-5:50pm:  Open discussion on happiness… how do we get it.  And more than that, what do you recommend someone do to live in a happy dimension and mind?

5:50-6pm:  Discuss craziness …..  What is it?  Lawson talks about it all the time, but…. What do you think?

6-6:20pm:  From craziness… what’s the opposite?  Is there a difference?  How do we know?

6:20-6:30pm:  Close… what’s on the page?

ASSIGNMENT:  Finish the book by end of next week.  Email me on your reading experience… what you’re thinking, how you’re feeling… informal but honest communication.  Not so much a short response, but participation.  I want to know what’s in your mind while reading and in between your reads.

i feel like craziness is normal everyone has a bit of it in their personality. i dont look at craziness as a bad thing, i think of it as having fun, being loud and not caring about what other have to say.

I believe everyone is a little “crazy” in their own ways. But in the general definition of crazy we all think of I believe a person is crazy if they choose to not believe in their wrong doings or do not understand societal practices that keep everyone safe. I do not believe in the stigma that being crazy has around it. Lawson pushes this boundary by calling herself crazy in her own book and believing she was for a time, but when I read her book I just think I am reading a comedic book. To me the stigma the word crazy has created needs to be dismantled.

When I think crazy I think of people who act like they’re by themselves. When you go out in the world there is a unsaid standard of how to act. I believe people who say F*** the standard are what being crazy is. Living life how they want, not how society deems you should.

i refuse to listen to capitalism’s definition of cRaZy because I mean… who doesn’t kind of just want to retreat into the forest for good and lose all sense of wealth, material goods, commercialism??
Sure the impulse isn’t Thee Norm.

But I mean it can’t be more nefarious/batshit wild than what some *aggressive air quotes* “NORMAL” people do behind closed doors.

Anyway I know I’m super mentally ill but I don’t want my worth to be defined by it. I also don’t want it to be a deciding factor in how seriously I’m taken. Frankly it’s none of anyone else’s business and if someone thinks doing shit unconventionally/not in line with post WWII norms makes me *negative connotation* crazyYY then so be it.

To me there is a difference in being actually crazy and societies definition of what crazy is. I choose not to believe in societies definition of craziness because I feel it is too judgmental. To me everyone is a little crazy, everyone has their own little quirks that make us who we are. Societies definition of crazy to me puts everyone who doesn’t act the exact same as others into a box and labels them as “crazy”. When in reality everyone just has their own little quirks because are all human. My definition of crazy is someone who puts harm onto others knowingly in any way shape or form.

I think the opposite of crazy can be many things. It can be stable, or mentally healthy, or even just boring and average, depending on how you define crazy. The only difference is perspective. I may seem crazy wearing an all black outfit paired with 7 inch platform boots to some random lady at safeway. That same lady might seem even crazier to me when I watch her give the workers a hard time because her can was dented or something. I think the true opposite for me is self awareness and the willingness to change. The problem is perspective, many crazy people THINK they are self aware and don’t see a reason to change.

no such thing as crazy just being free to be yourself and do whatever you like to do. be happy by not letting anything affect it lifes hard but we need to find yourself getting back up and not just do work and school because sometimes that can keep us from our happiness because stress will take over. just learn when to shut everything down and enjoy the moment and even self care to be more happy!

Wednesday I forgot to post to the blog, but I’ve been doing a little better than usual lately feeling wise.
The definition for the plural noun form of the word mania, “is an excessive enthusiasm or desire; an obsession.” It feels like Lawson has become crazed with making the most out of her life despite her mental illness. I’m not sure I could write a 3 to 4 page essay on it until I’ve brainstormed some more ideas on what that single word could be.
Sometimes I play a video game I love until I get absolutely sick of it, then in that time when I am burnt out of trying to do anything I will get real work done, there’s no English word that I could find from a quick google search that describes what this is, But 膩 (nì) the Chinese character is the closest word.
Craziness is just whatever a person does that could be seen as too unique to be normal
In the elder scrolls 4 oblivion there is only one god for the concepts of madness and order, with that single god of madness becoming the god of order at the end of every era. The god of madness fills his realm as he pleases and making things how he likes without any thought into how it affects the inhabitants, the god of order burns all of his fun to the ground because he sees individuality as excessive and inefficient. Basically craziness is the lack of restraint of expression, where order is the restraint of expression to act within the vague societal boundaries that define a “normal” person in the present. One important to being human and the other important for being around humans.
