1A – 7PM

7-7:10pm:  Introductions, current work and ideas…

7:10-7:35pm:  Irby…. What’s your direction?  What outside source did you find?  Anybody go on YouTube and see one of her interviews?

7:35-7:50:  Your writings about YOU… your stories.  They are yours, and you should look further into them, for a number of reasons.  When someone asks for a story from your life, where’s the first place you go?  What’s the first moment you think of?

7:50-8pm:  Close….  What’s on your page for the night?

For me:  KEEP THE WRITING PERSONAL.  STOP THINKING SO MUCH.

ASSIGNMENT:  Irby essay.

That’s it.  I want all your focus to be on this paper.  My hope is that you will make it yours.  While still keeping it professional, you will ensure it’s personal and that you own your writing and the ideas you convey.  The more you focus on structure and that it’s an assignment, the more harm you’re doing to your paragraphs.  Write from your ides, your opinion… the support you provide is in the strength of your written voice, demonstrating that not only you read her work, but have a formed and framed position on it.

ENJOY YOUR WRITING.

When someone asks me about a story in my life I always think back to when I was a kid in Long Beach. Although I have lived in Sonoma County for more than half of my life I still always think way back. the first picture that comes to mind is when I was about 4 years old and still using training wheels on my bike my dad took my older brother and older stepsister and I to the park to ride our bikes. The parks name is Eldorado and we would ride our bikes around a large duck pond about the size of the one here in Rohnert Park except its surrounded by a cement path. at one point in the path there is a bit of an uphill and at that age my legs weren’t really strong enough to make it up so I would have to walk the bike up. Well on this particular day I decided to try and ride up it. Well, my legs still weren’t strong enough and I rolled back straight into the pond! I struggled for a few seconds to stand up, but the part that always makes me laugh is that my brother saw me fall in from the other side of the pond. So he DROPS HIS BIKE and RUNS all the way around to let my dad know that I fell in. So my dad quickly gets up and by this time I already walked out of the water (my dad says I looked like a little swamp monster coming out of the water) he pulls my bike out and I laid down in the sun for the rest of the time we were there to dry off

  2. Oh I can talk about myself all day! LOL I guess I can start where I left off in Kindergarden, when it was simpler times and I had no care in the world. Man those were some good times playing with all my friends…

If only life could be JUST THAT. And, this may surprise you, it can be. The most successful business people are the ones that try all ideas and play with thought progression…

When someone asks for a brief story of my life, I immediately think of my student council days in elementary school that’s where I met my best friend and to this day even tho we are miles away we are still best friends. This memory pops up immediately because both of us have been loyal to our friendship through our ups and downs. Supported each other through our “boy problems”, our accomplishments, and has been a big part of my life to which I can call her family. Another moment that pops in my head is, the time my family and I went to Hawaii for vacation!!

When I tell the story of my life I generally start with my long haul trucking days. Those were some great experiences getting to see the country through the window of an 18 wheeler. No real boss other than time, and she is and will always be everyones boss. This greaat country of America has so many amazing site whether it is the splendor of the Rocky mountains, or seeing a red sunset in New Mexico. The coast of The Carolinas and the Tennessee smoky mountains. Not many people Know how beautiful upstate New York is or what real fresh Wisconsin cheese taste like.

  6. Hello, currently I’m also working on the last bit of my Irby and am planning on finishing it in the morning. In my writing I was thinking of quoting irby from an interview for the last bit of my essay.

I find writing about myself and my life to be challenging at times. Don’t find much of it to be that interesting. But, if I had to, I suppose I’d start off by describing my personality as a child. I would describe my hopes, dreams, and ideas, then continue it by describing how much my environment changed me for both better and for worse. I think it would be a cool way to get others to reflect and take a look back at everything they’ve gone through as well as get a better understanding to how they became the person they are now. I think that’ll create gratitude, appreciation, and a lot of reflection towards their life and themselves. Too deep? lol

http://FTP…. Stop thinking of essays as essays. It’s writing. It’s an idea, a position and/or opinion, one you need to support. Literally as simple as “I like ice-cream.” Why do you like it? What does it make you think of? When was the last time you had some? Tell us about it… who were you with, what did you talk about, what was the weather like….?

a shoebox is on tonight’s page…As I’m writing this, I can see my shoebox that contains my favorite shoe from my collection. This reminds me of the times in elementary school where we had shown and tell. I remember our assignment was to put a few items that we love/d, so whenever I see a shoebox I get reminded of something exciting rather than just a plain carboard box.
