English 1B, Wednesday 4/1/20

-If you want to know your last essay grade, let me know.  But, honestly, we’re starting this whole thing over.  Starting NOW.

-First off, how is everyone doing?  What are you writing, how are you dealing with all this?  What’s on your mind?

-Let’s PRODUCE.  Story, thought, let’s just MOVE…

-Let’s just move forward….  But first, thoughts on Sedaris.  What you learned, what you saw, how he connected with you and what his intentions were through his PRODUCTION.

-What about his writing do you want to incorporate into yours.  Or, what about Sedaris influences your outlook on the world and by extension your writing?

-Jenny Lawson…. All I have to say is, well, WOW.  Why would I say that?  Why would any reader say that?  What notes have you taken?

-What are some characteristics, or qualities of her writing?  How would you describe her humor?

-Any passages you want to share, that stood out to you for a particular reason?

-Her and Sedaris… different, similar, what?

-Jenny Lawson’s book connects would be great for someone who……………?

                *Needs to laugh.

                *Is looking for new perspective.

                *WHAT??????

BREAK

Your journal… what are you writing for you?

Thinking about your story and where you are in it, aside from everything that’s going on…  What makes you want to tell a story?

*How are you using a journal?  That is, when do you connect with it and what makes you connect with it?

Homework due before next online meeting:  3-page typed reaction email to me, on your reaction to Lawson’s writing and how she writes… NO SUMMARY, just a reader’s reaction. And finish her book by 4/13/20!!!!!!

Also…. Email me pictures of your journal’s pages, whichever pages you wish!

Lastly….. write more in your journal, about what’s happening with quarantine and all the covid effects, but more importantly you and how you are maintaining character composition during all this….. USE. YOUR. JOURNAL.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IF you’re like me and truly sheltering in place, and/or working from home, you see all things and people differently. Including yourself. You have more an inner-insistence to test yourself… see what you can do and bring to life that, maybe, you’ve never thought of before.

  3. Here’s my I’m sorry you asked a crazy woman to marry you poem—
    I apologize for the crazy.
I’m sorry for all the madness.
    The thought of losing you,
    Throws me in to sadness.
    You are my rock,
    And the best of friend.
    You’ll always be my bottom,
My ride or die ‘til the end.
I can’t promise life will be easy,
    No guarantee to never fight,
    I promise to overcome darkness,
For I’ll always be your light.
    Please don’t get angry,
    And I won’t stay mad,
I don’t ever want to say,
It was a love that we had.

For tonight’s page… Time is not a friend, nor an opponent. It’s just time, and it exists only from perception, subscription to its concept.

I’ve never been one to write daily journals and Im not even sure if this counts as a form of writing but I love documenting my experiences on social media. I have instagram account for my fully renovated vintage trailer, documenting projects I’ve finished, tips and tricks for new vintage trailer owners and sharing my experiences camping. I love receiving feedback from people that my posts have inspired them and its very rewarding to know that what I’m writing is being heard. If anyone is interested my account is @thebellcamper!

Writing your experiences is not only the most truthful form of writing but the most valuable and enriching for YOU.

I am confused as to why the time stamps on our entries are reading 2 AM? Makes it challenging to follow along

That’s why you should follow closely. WordPress is based in England I think. Just work with it.

And honestly, the time is irrelevant. The sequence is the important thing. If you follow it, you’re good.

Remember that you can text me at anytime, any reasonable time, with questions, clarifications, if you want to work on ideas with me, and I will respond as quickly as I can!!!! I appreciate all of you!!! Thank you so much for being here tonight!!! Remember, PLEASE….. activity and attendance WILL dictate how you do in this course. And with regard to this blog’s functionality and user-friendliness…. this is what we have. This is what I have chosen as our physical alternative, and before any of this COVID shit happened, I told you all that this blog is for YOU. I started it for “students”. I don’t control WordPress’ algorithms. This is what we have, this is what we use. I’m a teacher, I guess, not a web designer or engineer. I am looking to have you leave this semester with the grade you want, especially with everything going on and how this has made your life as a student more challenging. But, you need to give me a REASON.

Thank you all again for being here, tonight. Questions?? Comments? Ideas….??

I miss having an in-person class. In the last few days, I’ve been wondering what stories certain colleges would have shared with us.

Last week I gave in and downloaded tick-tock and showed it to my dad. Now we only speak in reference to them.
^ this in a nutshell is how my social distancing is going.
