This semester, I will be emphasizing more shorter submissions than long, exhaustive and ridiculous essays you have no interest in writing. Just so you know… the focus is quality of expression, not quantity.

Happiness is a state of mind. YOU create your own happiness, the way you live, the people around you, thats just extra. I believe everyone makes their own emotional state of mind. Our minds are very powerful in what they take in and what we let out if that makes any sense.

Because I leave my family since I was 15. Came to the US alone. Happiness for me is stay with my family, stay with the person who you love in, and stay healthy.

I think I will do this by actively working on my writing, I’ve never had a class that was a really writing focused. I’ve also never had a class in this type of platform, as well as teacher with your enthusiasm! So I am looking forward to what I can learn from you

I am liking what you say but for me I am a little nervous. Don’t get me wrong I love to read, but writing I am not so good at. All I cn say is I will give it my best and maybe some of you younger smarter people can help.

What I want from English 1A is to make a journal that I am very proud of creating. Something I can keep and look back onto in the future. I also want to improve my writing skills.

I feel that we create our own happiness. You find what you enjoy and you stick to that and try to expand the reach of what can bring you joy. I do believe there is some outside influence and people can make you happy or unhappy, and if there is something in your life that makes you unhappy… do something about it! Change it! We are all more in control of our lives than we feel but if you really put your mind and your heart to something you can do it, I know I have and I constantly need to remind myself that I am capable.

What I want from being in this course? What an interesting question to ask. I want to be able to read and write freely. Not just think factually which is important in its own, but also analyze and understand the deeper meaning of texts or examples of writing. I want to learn a lot of things really, how to write creatively, analytically and in turn understand writing from other people or at least be able to interpret what people write. I think that makes sense.

What I would like to learn from this class would be to like the idea of English. Such as reading and writing because as of right now I, unfortunately, do not find myself very keen on the subject.

I am steven Padilla, I have no questions about the course , and I want to get a solid grade out of English 1A. What I would want a reader to know about my story is the beginning and the end so that I could explain it sort of how it’s done sometimes in movies. You can force happiness through actions by teasing people til they smile which will bring happiness. How to write about happiness in my opinion is just comedy and satire. I will try to make this semester by making it less droopy in my emotions since it’s online class time.

Are we actually writing as if we are writing a book? On ourselves?
Well I would want a reader to know about me that even though I have been through a lot while such a young age, that is a fact about me and has made me who I Am, but it is not the only reason I am who I am. I don’t want people thinking I use my hardships as a crutch, as I like to call it. I think people need to know that my life history is not a crutch but just facts about me. I don’t want sympathy and empathy. Everyone has their hardships and tragedies.

What I want from English 1A (and it seems like i will be able to get that through this platform) is to find better ways to express myself. I always have so much on my mind yet have so much trouble trying to find the words to say it, but i feel that this way and actually having to write it down will help a lot with that.

what I really want from English 1A is to find a way to learn how to transform my thoughts from a certain topic into words on an essay in sense that is clear and interesting to read not only for me but for whoever reads it

I would like to be able to better communicate my thoughts in a way I can be proud of on paper. In the past I have looked at my writing and thought it wasn’t my best and would simply like to improve from week to week. Also looking forward to reading some good books.

I don’t necessarily have any questions about the class, but what I want from this English 1A is to be very connected, which I already feel with the class. It’s nice to have a forum that’s consistently updating, because through this whole covid thing, a lot of us can’t do much so again and might be a little lonely so it’s nice to be in touch and meet everyone. Just looking forward to the class, on this fist day alone I love it.

How do I force Happiness, well it starts by making sure that I remember that life is about experiences. So My family and I travel a lot. As I have stated before my wife and I have been in all fifty States, but I have also managed to get my kids to twenty nine so far. My proudest part of our travels is that my teenager still looks forward to our months long family trips.

what I would want a reader to know about my story is that I have always gave it my all to accomplish more in my life or rather the life and career I want to live. I have had my share of fails but have always got back up and put forth more effort into what my goals are. That is just who I am as a person. I plan on actualizing this by trying to have my readers see through my words. By having them connect so deeply with my writing that they can visualize my thoughts through it.

Hi my name is Kaylin! (: (Ky-leen to be exact, I pronounce it in Spanish). I grew up in both Sonoma and Marin county and this is my first time back at college after taking a break for a couple years, so definitely excited to get back into the swing of things. English is also my favorite subject so I’m really excited for this class and appreciative for Professor Mikey’s positive energy. Really looking forward to the rest of the semester, looks like it’ll be fun!

I just started Journaling again! I used to do it in high school, then little by little would write less and less until I completely forgot about it. My best friend gifted me with a journal for my birthday a couple months ago and began to journal again. I had forgotten how helpful and calming it was. Definitely helps to put it all on on paper rather than keeping in your head, it can get a little messy in there!

My story is not something I really think about. I guess that I would like them to know and understand situations and emotions through the way I convey them. Allusions, descriptive wording, figurative language. the tone and setting that I display through the choices of words I make in my writing. I would want my reader to hold onto every word, think through every paragraph to better understand the ideas or message that I try to convey. Narration has always been a writing style I was fond off. Fictions books tend to display narration a lot. Different sorts of them, they have you wondering if the narrator can be trusted since the point of view is skewed. I guess I would try to do the same. Have my reader not only take my word for it, but also explore the other points of view of my story. What could have changed, what could have been different, did it really need to go that direction? Not everything is straight forward and I want to convey that, even in my story. I too am an unreliable narrator after all.

My story? That answer will not be there for a very long time. I don’t think I have had enough experiences in my life to make a narration or even a short story. If they had to get one message or even idea it would be that no matter how hard the struggles are you can create your own stories and set your own path.

In my story I would want a reader to know that I did everything in my power to be good and kind person, and that I was the kind of person who took action to get where I wanted to be and accomplish my goals. I would do this by sharing my experiences and try to convey the emotions that I felt during those times. Because when you have goals I’m sure most of us know its never smooth sailing, its like you’re caught in a storm trying to find the way out.

I used to feel very creative and loved to write and read, so I think that’s what I want from this class, to get in touch with my creative side again, as well as to learn more about myself. I feel like a lot of the answers I want are answers I already have and believe writing will help me get to those answers.

I believe that my story is too short to be told. I have been through a lot in in 18 years but I don’t think the story will be done until I can show that the hard moments in my life have actually taught me something. That and I also feel I haven’t really achieved anything truly story worthy in my life because there has yet to be a moment where I’ve had to overcome an obstacle that truly changed me and caused me to go out and be good at something.

The story doesn’t have to be “done” in order to be told. Telling it as it happens is the most engaging song for readers!

what do I want a reader to know about my story?
I will want the reader to know that sometimes you really don’t need a support system to accomplish goals in your like. For example, some people in my life aren’t around but I try to show them that I am doing great. And I hope that I just give myself the support I need throughout my hardships.
