5-5:10pm: Has anyone laughed lately? At a certain point, don’t you just have to laugh? And notice, this is a QUESTION. Not a judgment or statement.
5:10-5:30pm: Let’s talk about humor in Composition. How is humor part of composition? How can humor be literature? What is the value to humor? Has anyone heard of David Sedaris? If so, what do you know?
5:30-5:50pm: Analyzing humor, comedy, anything that makes us laugh. What does it do to the writing? Just make it entertaining, or something else?
5:50-6pm: Finding funny in everything…. Can it be done?
6-6:20pm: Humor in our lives, in our families, in some of the dumb stuff we do…. What do you think? Me, I have to laugh at myself when I f/ck up, otherwise it poisons my mood and vibe.
6:20-6:40: David Sedaris…. Someone who writes differently. In a diary then to a formal essay. He teaches us not just about comedy, but about writing an essay. To enjoy the liberated writing in a diary or journal first, then organize. To make writing yours!
6:40-6:50: Close…. What do you have in your notes/on tonight’s page?
ASSIGNMENT: 1, Research David Sedaris. 2, type and EMAIL ME a 2-page reaction to your findings on Sedaris…. What do you think of him? What is he like? What sources did you find useful? (HINT: Watch his videos on YouTube, to start!). 3, write out your goals for this semester, not just for this class but all-encompassing, and write how you plan to satisfy them. Be prepared to discuss next meeting.

I’m always laughing. I think laughing brings people together. There is some stuff you don’t laugh at but for the most part I try to make every happy or funny don’t want to be a mood killer you know .

I haven’t laughing a lot lately but the most recent time I can remember really laughing was about a month ago watching a stand up show on Netflix. If I go to long without laughing at something life can get a bit stale and so that would make me agree that eventually you have to laugh.

Yes I have laughed. I do work at Jamba and there is a lot to laugh about we are always dropping things and cracking jokes. I just got a new kitten as well which makes me laugh because she’s always falling/playing.

yesterday I was trying to replace my battery in my car and the tool I had touched the positive while I was tightening the negative burnt the sh*t out of me and sparked up. thought I had killed the new battery I bought for $173. I wanted to get mad but I laughed. all in all I got her done and the battery was good.

I laughed earlier today when my dog ran head first into a glass door and that was honestly the highlight of my week. sometimes its healthy to just laugh after a long day to make yourself feel better.

I laughed the other day when I was driving my car( which I’ve just threw 2500 into It) and my tranny goes out going up the hill to my house. Already dropped a bunch of money and time into the vehicle and it just makes me laugh how many problems it has had in a few months

Hello Everyone! Excited to be back in class. Lately I can say that it has started to be harder to laugh here and there. However When I do get around to it I am appreciating the laughs these days. My last good laugh was probably with my brothers about a week ago all. All in my room having some good conversation and laughs.

I’ve laughed lately, mostly as a stress reliever! It’s so easy (especially lately) to get caught up in everything going on and get really stressed. Sometimes I just have to stop and laugh, because otherwise I’d probably cry! Not necessarily laughing at something outright funny, but just laughing at how crazy life has gotten and how ridiculous some things are. Laughing as a form of catharsis!

Comedy is something that people find funny, so if I find something funny that others don’t, that doesn’t take away the humor its just different from their definition. All different styles of comedy contribute to writing because they all serve different purposes.

I think humor is whatever makes us laugh. It’s such a subjective concept. From “dad” jokes to dark humor, everyone has their thing. That being said, I think all types of humor can contribute to writing. It truly depends on the tone of the book, sometimes it’s the author narrating in order to lighten a situation or a character using humor for the same purpose, other times it’s the entire tone of the story itself. Humor is a great way to help the reader connect with the story and get involved.

i dont really think you can define it exactly, thats kinda like slapping a one size fits all sign on it lol and i think the same goes for humor in writings. it all depends on the author and perspective of things.

Humor is something that makes a reader smirk, smile, or laugh. Humor can be anything from a knock knock joke to video compilations of people falling. Humor is definable it is a vessel to bring joy, however there is many types of humor. I feel I bring a sense of humor to my writing with metaphors but it changes depending on what I’m writing about .

Humor can add a break to a more serious piece of writing. I don’t know if you could define it in a way that would be the same for everyone. Some people think fart jokes are funny and others think they are gross.

Humor is composition can make a good transition from point to point if the subject isnt serious however there is a time and a place for it. Comedy is written as its own novels all the time from children books to adult books as well. David Sedaris is a comedian/book writer in the united states whos novel were supposed to be reading.

I think sarcasm is funny although it maybe hard to tell when someones being sarcastic through composition or writing.

Well even though it is the opposite I know sarcastic humor does not translate well over text so maybe over the top humor or more straight to the point stuff would be better for writing.

In my case, I believe humor makes composition interesting. Sometimes makes dark jokes that are relatable which makes you interact. Humor can be literature just like movies. Also I have not heard of David Sedaris but I will tonight on the assignment!

Finding the value of humor is fortunaly something that just comes natrual to myself. It can diffuse tension in a ackward situation, it can assist in starting new relationships, it can also be something that brings an individual happiness.
