FTP: Demand of yourself an explanation of your own truth.
6:20-6:30pm: Close… what’s on your page for tonight?

Today and yesterday were both very fun days. My girlfriend and I went on a backpacking trip to Point Reyes which has recently opened up. We got to read our books by on the beach and it honestly just felt nice to get outdoors and live a little. I was re-reading parts of furiously happy to get more of an idea on where I want to take my essay. My body is a little bit tired now, but It was still a good weekend.

Hey guys! good evening I hope everyone is well.
This week, I have done a lot of writing/analysis for my communications 1 class.
Outside of school though I am super stoked to write about this weird shit I found on an overpass while I was skating. Lately I’ve been stumbling upon fascinating little vignettes of people’s lives around Roseland and I think the imagery is very potent. I am excited to create.
And I used to run! I was on cross country and really really love long distance running, but unfortunately I fucked up my hip from practicing too hard and now I have a difficult time doing runs longer than a few miles.

FTP: Have fun tonight, and with this essay. Concentrate on enjoying your work, not if the structure of your essay is “proper”, and forget about grades. Yes, I’ll grade it eventually, but you can always rewrite. AND…. If you’re worried about grade before enjoyment of your work, you have a contaminative problem you need to address.

Hi! I’m good. I don’t run but I went on a hike with my mom yesterday if that counts. I also like lifting weights and dancing but not really running so much anymore. I did cross country in middle school and I kinda liked it so I’ve considered getting back into it but I’ve been doing other types of exercise so I haven’t really made time for it I guess.

Hello everyone!
This last week I made it a point to take some time to go out to a happy place and reread one of my favorite books.
I went surfing over the weekend and journaled after to and it was really relaxing. I felt very intune with my inner self which is great especially with all of the craziness from the pandemic and life in general.

I used to be on the track and field team for the 100m, 200m, 400m and the rallies but sadly it got cancelled because of corona. speaking of running me and my sister have decided to wake up at 5 a.m to run tomorrow! !

Good evening! Happy Monday. I do well, thank you! How do you do Prof. Mikey and classmates? Today is a beautiful day; I am definitely ready for warmer weather… Hopped on a Statistics zoom tutoring sesh this morning since I am having Exam 1 tomorrow. Been stressing out a lot, actually, my contributions are second-guessed by my own self often and it is very annoying… however, I am not quitting. I’ve decided to push through even harder. There is no turning back. My writing so far on Lawson isn’t necessarily organized, but I have managed to narrow down a solid singular idea that I want to expand on. (As of now, it’s been on sticky notes and laptop docs…) I had like 10 ideas and I believe that the one I am leaning on the most might be more fruitful to write about. We’ll see. I have been re-reading Lawson as well, and listening on Audible… This is taking priority above everything else as I want to get comfortable with the formation of my idea.

I have come up with a couple possible outlines for this essay. I am really spending time feeling out my thesis, making sure I super super believe in it, and picking out the quotes I am going to reference. I’m taking some creative advice from Lawson’s work and allowing myself to explore my writing/thesis more than stick aggressively to the format I am used to using.

Rather than an outline, I would advise just wildly free-write and organize later!! Just my opinion…

Everyone has their own crazy and we have our own ways of wanting to cope/live/thrive with it. What one person sees as “healthy and happy” could be the opposite for someone else. That’s kind of the direction I see my essay going but I’m having trouble kick starting it. So far I’ve taken some solid notes so I’m piecing them together.

The main idea that I have to start thinking about is what crazy means to her. How what we think of crazy doesn’t pertain to her. She has such a different outlook on her life and how she acts. Others see it as crazy, but she sees it as uniqueness and individuality. Its a pretty cool contrast that I want to dive into

My essay ideas and writing are coming along… I started with a lot of different ideas and I have written some notes on them, and also voice dictated some of these ideas to my computer. Sometimes my brain works faster than I can write or type LOL. I think I’m gonna make Jenny Lawson’s self compassion the highlight of my essay

I haven’t done much in the way of writing, I’m still figuring out what to write on. I’m not overthinking it, just trying to focus on something that will get me to write enough. I’m reading the book out loud with my girlfriend, and it opens it up for your mind to think of new things, this way, at least for me. my focus always goes to the viewpoint of mental illness to outsiders. The misunderstandings, biases, and familiarities everyone faces around mental illness.

My essay, it started a little bit rough. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do so I did a little brain storm on paper and tried to see which idea I felt the strongest about and looked back at my notes to help me. This helped narrow down my thoughts and pick which one I wanted to start with!

My essay is slowly tawking shape. Going back to pages I had written down in order to inspire myself and make sure I get on track. I appreciate the limited required structure for this essay, but at times it almost is a tad overwhelming with the potential things to list in the essay. I want to make sure I tie my experiences in to the book, but I just feel as though I have so much to say but I want to make sure I am communicating things in terms of a proper understanding on Lawson and her stance on life.

Like Rory, I’m also still considering the direction I want to go with my essay. I have a lot of ideas I want to talk about but I am uncertain about my structure and specific outline I’d like to use. I keep looking back in the book to get a better idea of what I was feeling when I read it, taking into account my notes, and trying to form one clear coherent idea for the essay. So far I’m positive that Jenny Wants us to be ourselves and be different, because normal is boring. So, I’ve been looking for quotes to support this and I’m trying to really feel that I can write about this at length before I begin my first draft.

I like this idea of authenticity and being yourself…. Would you say that’s what the book is “about”?

I’d say the book is “about” finding the fun in the situations you’ve been given and not letting anything get you down.

I have started by watching Jenny Lawson’s Ted Talk so that I could get inspiration. I’ve had trouble pinpointing what I really think my essay should be about, but I think after watching that I realized the main message I got from the book is that your story matters, and if you can actually share it you should. This concept has always been hard for me to grasp because I find I am to scared of being judged if I am open about certain things. Part of stigma comes from people being too scared to tell their honest story and thoughts so if you can get past it, there may be many people you help discover that they aren’t alone in their experiences.

Consider this as a supporting idea for your essay, regardless of topic/thesis…. One’s environment and what it does to them.

I came up with a few ideas that have potential in helping me to write my essay , mainly I’ll be starting off the essay by writing down my initials opinions about the book that I got by searching the book up. After that I’ll be writing down a few quotes that I liked/supported my thesis by breaking down the quotes.

Haven’t really started on the essay, but I highlighted a bunch of quotes and stuff I like in the book wrote everything I highlighted down, and started looking for a topic in what I have written down. My essay might be written about Lawson’s perception of identity through her persuasions of imagination. I really want to improvise with the idea of “crazy” being a force of imagination which navigates her character to acknowledge the contrast and capability in her life.

The way I educate myself very much depends on the topic I’m learning about. Some things I need to immerse myself in to learn more about it. Some things I just have to spend some time writing about and watching videos and trying to understand it. With that, the truth is really what you want it to be. If you have a preconceived notion beforehand, anything you learn is only going to point you back to it. If you want to learn something new, you have to come into it open minded, no matter what the topic is. As with life, I won’t grow as a character if I refuse to let myself learn more, and be open minded about what I learn, so that I can grow. Its a circle.
