I educate myself by reading, listening, and trying things when the opportunity is available. Hands-on learning really works for me so when there’s something set out for me to learn it helps to do the thing physically or set something as my intention when I set out to do a task. Lots of self assessment. and therapy.

How you self-educate and find truth is by MOVEMENT. Constantly moving, being hungry for more education and knowledge and exposure to the world, and constantly reviewing what you’ve gathered.

I try not to believe everything I see. Especially on the internet. I try to educate myself by diving deeper. Usually theres something from that that interests me more and its down the rabbit hole from there. I like to read books, articles, watch YouTube videos, talk to people. I feel that keeping the glass half empty is crucial to allowing yourself to learn more. If you want to find the truth, you have to be open to finding it.

In terms of educating myself, I am the type of person that attempts to look at all sides of a situation, no matter my prior experience or biases. I always try to confirm things through multiple sources, as another layer in an attempt to get to the truth of things. While at times I do not seek out new information, when I do gather information, I do it right.

Some things I do to educated myself is doing research, making sure I know facts and that they come from a reliable source, and listening to others opinions and ideas. I think you grow as a character with the help of people you surround yourself with, the way you go about things that happen in your life and how you continue to learn all effects your character.

Yep! Character is always affected by outside occurrences, but we decide the effect. 🙂

This is also the way I am looking to eventually teach history classes. Providing facts of what occurred and giving each sides perspective in order to better build the story of the world, and to hopefully allow my students a better connection.

I knew for the longest time that I wanted to do something that helped people and I always respected teachers. I was studying to be an EMT but a kid had a seizure in front of me at the JC. I did everything right and helped him through it till the ambulance showed up, but the anxiety high was so bad that I was shaking for 6 hours. Decided then and there that educating would be a better route, took some time off but I’m back to the teaching route now.

To educate myself, I learn from mistakes being mine or people around me. I also like to learn heads on, its a lot easier to learn by someone doing it in front of me then anything else.

The way I educated myself is by being open to new things trying a new book or doing something I’ve never done before. You never know what you May like or not if u don’t try. When I try something new I get interested and like researching about it so little by little I’m learning new things about different stuff.

When I want to educate myself I do both of two things, I ask the people around me what they know and think about the topic at hand and I use the internet to research whatever I’m trying to learn about. For development as a character, Id say life experience such as failures and success, as well as the struggle in between.

setting intention helps me seek truth. it’s like once i put it out into the universe that truth is what I’m seeking, it makes it a lot easier to absorb/learn/understand truth.
i build character through seizing moments and challenging what my mental health and dysphoria has forced me to be for most of my life. that also means addressing the times where I was the problem. not creating excuses, but recognizing the trauma that may have caused a behavior and being proud of the time spent with mental health professionals by my side to help unravel it all and sincerely working on BEING BETTER. I like to be really honest with myself, and i think it’s how i grow to be more mature and clear-minded.

I educate myself by reading and researching on the topic. If the topic is controversial I never rely on websites that are politically biased. I will always make sure that my information is correct by reading it through different websites.

I’m not really sure how I educate myself to be honest. I mean in school it’s simple, I follow the structure the teacher gives me and complete all the assignments and if any of it was interesting or useful I will remember it. Lots of things I have learned have been neither. Outside of school I mainly just fact check things I am told. I will research things myself if I find them interesting and learn that way. Honestly this is something I probably need to work on, but I definitely still do learn new things everyday. I think I grow the most in character when I learn socially. For example even this book helped me grow because I learned more about someone else’s perspective, and I find more value in that than facts. When I hear what someone from a different background has to say I get something I can’t get from just looking at facts or reading a history book and that is so important. I guess in that way I do make an effort to listen to those voices and learn to be a better, more accepting, respectful and validating human from them.

You educate yourself by making time and having a positive attitude and an open mind while doing so. Not letting your opinions, feelings, values affect you from learn something true. I educate myself by doing research on topics i’m not totally sure about, or anything interesting i’m willing to learn about. Furthermore i’m making sure I don’t just read the first link that pops up. Learning has never been easier, but so has reading false information. I think you grow as a character by stepping out of your comfort zone and accepting failure. With every failure you grow

For self education I find the best resource to be the internet. It sounds bad at first glance but there are so many resources you can find on the internet. What I find to be most beneficial to me understanding things is to look at different sources. If I hear about something happening in politics I don’t take their words as gospel. I research for myself and look at the different perspectives and maybe a live recording of either a debate or a speech if it is available. I find the best way to learn online is to look for see all sides of the story.

I educate myself by with prose. It’s easier to learn about myself openly and examine the unordinary pieces that pour out when there is melody in the background too. However, I value silence.. it is gold. Early morning hours…late late nights. Being curious and unashamed about knowledge I haven’t acquired yet. Asking questions, seeking opinions through active and engaging conversations, with intention to shed light on matters. I grow by paying attention to my attention, where it goes how it forms, and morphs into experiences outside of my comfort. Truth is in the center of being, I think the answers lie within, but they must be checked wisely.

Truth that is conveyed in my essay about Lawson is the mutual struggles with mental illness. Branching off of that, I am looking into how we both were able to break the bounds of the labels that others put on us, while expressing a similar battle with finding myself in the day to day world.

I educate myself through travel and exploration of different ways of life. I push myself to go see new things, handle new situations, and relate to more people. I search for what makes people different, and even more so for what makes us so similar. In order to reflect on things I’ve learned: I journal. I hike a mountain, then journal. I play basketball, then journal. I meditate, then journal.

There are a few truths that I’d like to communicate through my writing, I haven’t decided which to pursue but one would be happiness and humor and finding that in whatever small nook and cranny it may be hiding from us . Even if we have to put in extra effort to find it sometimes its always worth it compared to the latter of giving up.

My truth is communicated by my essay. Specifically the beliefs and ideas that are true to me, as long as I am true to myself when I write my essay of opinion. Anyone reading it will need to have an open mind, but it won’t ever be their truth unless they want it to be, because truth is subjective, even when facts are involved.

I was thinking about how best to reply to this, and my girlfriend just says to me “Well you’re always talking about how she makes you feel better”. And this is true, she speaks honestly and is so relatable. Her writing is really good at explaining how I feel, and how it feels like to have mental illness. That’s my truth about her writing.

I think the truth of my essay is that by speaking on your experiences and struggles, you work to combat the stigma and fear of judgement that society instills in us. This is the same thing that makes us scared to embrace and share our stories with the world, or a friend or loved one (or let’s be real, maybe a therapist too depending on what your story is).

I started with my essays like I mentioned last class. I went through all my notes and picked out the topics that either stood out to me or that I deem relevant for my essay. I listed them in my format and work on them every time I feel inspired to write, as writing should ( I feel like) should come from a place of passion and inspiration rather than forcing myself to write.
During the process so far, I have watched a ton of YT videos and Netflix docs that help fill me up with information that I might be able to apply to my essay. And that’s how I normally educate myself, too. I love to learn from my peers (like reading all the comments and forgetting to reply myself because I’m too occupied reading orders’ work. oops-) and from discussing. I LOVE discussing. My favorite ones are on controversial topics. Intellectual debates with open minded, critical, analytical people are the SO MUCH FUN. Because I feel like I don’t enrich myself when talking to people who share the same view points as I but rather with people who have completed opposites.
(I tried posting comments with my account but I don’t see them show up on the website, sorry if I have spammed you but its giving me STRESSS)

For the essay I plan to write, the truth that is revealed is the importance of perspective. Your perspective on events and what people do/go through means everything. It goes simply back to the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover”. Its’s a saying that everybody has heard somewhere. This is the truth that was revealed to me when reading. If we all took the time to understand the perspective of others, a lot of social and political issues could be understood and debated on rather than attacked by people who disagree strictly based on the political party they affiliate with. In other words, the truth that I want to reveal in my essay is “Perspective is Power”
