Good afternoon! I am doing pretty good, I have mostly been writing about the days and what I have been doing to keep myself happy and busy and occupied. I have been getting all of my school work done at the beginning of the week so that has given me a lot of time to write and take time for myself which has been enjoyable! I hope everyone else is doing good too!

Hey everyone, I hope that all is well!!!!! I have been doing great this week. For some reason I had a sudden kick of motivation this week, I got all of my high school homework done on Tuesday and now I have time to kick back and read our new book. Besides writing for school I have written about my dreams. I have been having extremely vivid dreams lately and sometimes they wake me up, so I will pull out my journal and write it down. Just the other night I dreamed that I was a worker at Joe Exotics Zoo. It sure was weird. I really hope that everyone is staying sane and healthy during this time. I miss you all and I miss class!!!!

  3. I am feeling better each week! I’m getting into the swing of my new schedule and I feel less bitchy and tired. I got my garden started this weekend so I feel like I am getting things accomplished when I’m home on my days off from work.
I have been using my writing prompt books that I have and been writing some short stories or thoughts about “my story.” I’m really looking forward to this writing assignment.

Hello there. I have been doing real nice lately, hopefully everyone else is fine too. Lately I have been writing poems in my journal and have gotten quite a few nonsensical pieces out of it. As long as they make sense to me that is what counts. The main theme of most of them seem to be centered around boredom and such, even though they’ve been doing a pretty good job of helping me stave off boredom. Also too have been reading a lot, unfortunately haven’t gotten to Irby yet, though I will soon!

I agree ranting can be a very raw way of writing its usually when my real feelings come out about whatever I’m talking about at the time it is very enjoyable for me because I usually feel conflicted when I’m writing most the time because the question I ask myself a lot is “is this really how I feel or is this really me?” to the point of me just thinking of is this what I really believe in? but when I’m ranting to myself in my journals I don’t get that weird conflict feeling.

  14. Hello all! Feeling a little busy and frantic this week. I am not sure why. My daughter turns 5 tomorrow so we have been getting ready for that. Along with her birthday she has all her check ups for her auto immune disease. We have to go to Oakland and let me tell you, Oakland was a trip with all this pandemic craziness. I felt like it was a scene from Men In Black after they find an alien and try to disinfect everything. It was bizarre. A lot of my writing this week went into my essay because I really struggled to get on five pages for some reason. I also finished my story about my labor and birth with Miss Lucy. What a crazy trip down memory lane. I hope everyone is well and enjoying this weather!

My paper on Lawson went well. I liked writing about Lawson and what I learned from her, especially since that is not usually how I reflect on a book that I’ve read. I don’t usually spend any time thinking about the person behind the words. A strength of my paper would be that I believe I have a good balance between my opinions/what I’ve learned and talking about the book and relating it to my opinions. An improvement I can focus on for later would definitely be to expand upon my main idea of the essay and to not stray so much, which was hard for me since I have so many opinions and things to say about Lawson!

Its funny because another classmate was saying they usually wrote with an outline but wrote with out and I usually write without one but for this essay I wrote with one. I found that when I did my second attempt with the out line it was a lot easier for me to organize my thoughts which I was having trouble with in the first place.

I thought that my paper went really well. I actually really enjoyed writing this one and had ease getting to the fifth page. I have such passion for Lawson and that book so I came naturally. I would say my strengths were my motivation. I was eager and passionate so I wrote and worked on it every day. As for my upcoming writing on my story, my paper on my summer of 2018 has been going good, I have been focusing on what happened and getting it down on paper. When I go back in to revise is when I add details and emotions. I would say that my strengths are the emotions in the story. As a whole, the story is full of ups and downs. When looking back over it, I would say that I need to improve on tying everything together. It jumps around and I need to make it flow more naturally.

My paper I feel like was successful, maybe even better than the last. I was real proud that I was able to take some interesting concepts that I hadn’t thought of before my rough draft and tie them to my thesis. I also think my thesis was pretty solid too, not too vague, but just vague enough. On the downside, I was barely able to break onto that fifth page again. I think it really is difficult to elaborate enough to get there, so that part was definitely a challenge again

I think that I will plan to write about both in my journal and see which makes me the most passionate. Either way, my mom will be the focus. I want to narrate my story with reaction. I would suggest not to worry to much about it being jumbled chronologically, it will still make sense if you write about it with lots of detail, so free writing is great too. Memory really is not very linear, because so many new thoughts come up. You’ll do great at getting your story out if you analyze and explain your memory well!

Any who, I’ve been writing about a few adventures I’d like to go on as soon as this epidemic is over. I’ve also been putting my agenda together for this upcoming fall.

So far for the story from my life I have four full pages, but that’s because I took time and wrote down everything that I remember. For this next week I am going to edit out unimportant parts and try to make the story as real and find some humor to bring to the story. I want to make my story exciting to read. I don’t have any tragic stories to write about, I am thankful to have a calm life with not a lot of loss or sadness. I am writing about an event that I cared a lot about so hopefully that will show through in my writing. I find it much easier to write about my life than about an author, but I enjoyed writing the Lawson essay and I enjoy writing about a story from my life too!

I want my readers to have a relatable experience, because I am writing about an experience that made me feel really alone, lost, and confused. I want them to experience the feeling of loving something so much and having that love stop because of a bad experience. I think that although my experience is unique to me, people will still find that they can relate and feel the way I felt in that moment.

I couldn’t tell you if she was alive or dead at this point and she has never met my children. So, I am fully aware that most of my story is highly influenced by her, but I struggle with how much attention? to give her I guess?
Either way. I am working on a timeline of sorts. Memories that I can remember and writing a bit about their significance. It’s putting some perspective and an “outline” of sorts about what I want to write about.

She would eventually get bullied and the smugness would turn in to a suitcase of emptiness that she would struggle to pull by herself. But I remember. I remember my first day, of my fourth school, for my third grade elementary class. And I remember the weight of that loneliness and the look of her eyes that threatened to spill tears.

I’ve actually been really excited to write my Target story. And it’s not just my story but also my brothers, my sisters and even my boyfriends. We all work for Target and they too have been exited to release some of their anger that they have with Target by helping me come up with some juicy stories that we have encountered. It’s been easy to sit down and effortlessly write two pages worth and I know that I can easily write another four with no problem.

Not entirely sure what the main premise of my story will be, but I might write with topics that came up in my life in the last couple years, or maybe narrow it down to one stretch of time or phase in my life I had. I have this feeling that I should really tight truthfully about myself in this recent time period that has really showed how much I’ve learned and changed. For some reason, finding this story within myself makes me feel a little uneasy because I’ve never written about it for others, just journaling to myself or thinking about it. But I cannot help but be very interested in starting to do this. I feel vulnerable and scared that I will be misunderstand but I think it would be very valuable to write about the important experiences that have changed my life in the last few years. It’s just that these experiences can be perceived as very mundane or uninteresting so I am looking to find a way to really make it clear how these experiences have affected certain parts of my life and change in general.

From reading some of her blogs and some of her tweets I get a sense that she is honest and isn’t sorry about being herself and I love that energy in her writing! I haven’t started her book yet but I already feel connected to her and from glancing at the first page I am already excited to dive into this book! She reminds me of Lawson because her writing feels progressive and truthful and real and funny, and I loved reading Lawson so I’ll be happy if they’re similar! Irby has a blog called “bitchesgottaeat” and if that is not iconic I do not know what is. From reading her first essay in the book, I can tell that she is not afraid to be real, and I mean REAL. Similar to Jenny Lawson, but cranked up to a thousand. When researching I discovered that she suffers from Crohn’s Disease and one time pooped her pants in public. She manages to turn gross and vulgar stories into raw and fearless monologues that people want to read! I am so excited to read her book further and indulge on her wacky stories.
