1A – 5PM

(Tonight’s meeting will be from 5-6:15pm. We will address the below prompts at our own pace. Have fun! Don’t think too much!)

1 -Intro….  How are you?  What are you thinking as the year comes to its close?  What do you see for yourself for 2021?  Any stories of happiness or humor….?

2 -Freewriting…. Okay, but free from what?  OURSELVES.

3 -Thinking is often the obstruction, the block that so many talk about.  “I have writer’s block.” Bullshit, you have YOU.  Go outside you, even if writing about your life.

4 -This pandemic and all the isolation, all the sequestering and quarantining, I would hope would show you that not much is needed to write.  And if not, look again.

5 -Writing is a choice for some, and not for others.  For some, it’s just what needs to be done.

6 -Have you ever tried something and have it turn into something else, something amazing that you didn’t expect?

7 – Your stories.  You have stories.  Don’t try to tell us you don’t.  Additionally, don’t say your life or your stories are boring.  That’s for readers to decide, not you.

8 – Tom Foreman, ‘Running Dangerously’….  What do you expect?  Should you expect anything?  What have you heard?

9 – Do you run?  Do you exercise?  How do you manager your time?  This book is about running, but only partially.  Much of it is about life and what we choose to do with our time here.

10 – Close.  What’s on tonight’s page….  What are you going to do over the next 48 hours, till our next session?

ASSIGNMENT:  Get Mr. Foreman’s book please, if you haven’t already.

ASSIGNMENT:  Write about you, something from your life, and prepare an excerpt to share next class.

ASSIGNMENT:  Email me a letter, no set length, on what you’re going to do to get the grade you want in this course.

ENJOY YOUR WRITING.

Because of the time I spend on my electronics for virtual school I have made myself a goal to have 90 minuets of electronic time after all of my school is done. Which it isn’t always 90 minuets esspecialy these rainy days, but it is pretty close. Instead of time on my devices I am outside working, at my job, or doing indoor chores.

I can say that everyone is a writer. In the sense that yes if you can write, then you are a writer, you experiences are yours and are different than everyone elses, that means that everyone is independant and unique and what begs the importance that all people become some sorts of writer to capture all these different perspectives or ideas.

I miss going out but I’ve been longboarding more with my gf and freewriting to me is weightless, as in my hand just flows. Sometimes I talk of my day or my struggles, reminds me alot of journaling, which I’ve had the pleasure to do more of in this class.

I feel like the upcoming book is going to be like that once scene in forest gump where he just keeps on running and running and people ask him why and he doesn’t have a straightforward answer. I think we’ll be taken on a spiritual run with the author about his life.

I am a writer I write in all of my classes except for math.I write for fun as well. Writing is an important skill to know. I don’t really know why I am a writer. I guess I am a writer because I have been educated to write for the past 12 years and I am fortunate that I know how to write because some people sadly don’t know how to.

How do you manage your time, or do you? And if not manage it, how are you aware of your time and what you do with it?

It depends what I am managing it for, but lately I have been focusing on spending time doing productive or educational things. If It doesn’t bring me joy or isn’t necessary for school/life than I don’t need to do it

I can say that I do manage my time sometimes. Some weeks I will make a whole schedule with my school hours, work hours, and all other activities written down for overview of my weeks. This helps me keep everything organized and goal based, though it can get overwhelming and mundane especially when looking at a screen for hours on end(which I have a very hard time doing). So there leads to my other choice in the matter which is to just wing it. Where I just have activities or responsibilities in my head. This helps me to relax and have a more flexible and enjoyable days, though it can get hard to manage my time like this because things fall through the cracks. So now I have a little bit of both and try to do a little improvising, as well as structured and organized.

Oh the last time I woke up early to run was for track in High school. Would be up before the sun came up and shiver and freeze for about 20 minutes before that feeling of adrenaline and sweat kicked in. It made me feel like puking almost every time but it felt amazing every time after.

With online school I have had a harder time being able to manage my time. I think it has to do with my classes not being so interactive like this class. I just have a harder time focusing especially in math.
