5-5:10PM: Instead of the usual intro…. Let’s talk about next year. What do you want?
For tonight’s page… Think about systems and practices you have in place to get you to what you want.
5:10-5:30PM: Goals and how we get ourselves to satisfying them…. HOW?
FTP: More than a how…. Understanding of self and seeing what you envision as truth before even the first step toward it, that’s what should be thought.
5:30-5:50PM: Tom Foreman….. What is he communicating in his book so far?
-For me… it’s Newness. Something developing from what’s around you, and surprising yourself with new steps and new music about your day.
5:50-6:10PM: What does it take to be a runner, to push yourself to do something (Doesn’t have to be running…)?
-It doesn’t “take” anything, in my opinion. You do it, or you don’t.
6:10-6:20PM: What ONE idea connects all three of these books? Sedaris, Irby, Foreman…..
Ideas:
-Relatability
-Observation
-Where you are, what you’re doing
-Heroism
-Kindness
-Truth
-Family
-Love of one’s own story
-Love
-Fear
-Strength
-(YOUR IDEA HERE…)
6:20-6:30PM: CLOSE…. What’s on tonight’s page?
ASSIGNMENT: Keep reading Mr. Foreman’s book. I recommend having it done by the end of next week. Start working on the prompt above, the ‘one connecting idea’…. Your final paper of the semester will be a position on this one idea. Start brainstorming, playing with ideas.
ASSIGNMENT: Look at all the research you’ve done on the three authors. Your final paper will require THREE outside sources to support your position. And, a works cited page. For now though, just gather all your research.

I’m looking forward to next year as a step in right direction from where I’ve found myself at. What I want the most next year s to have a stable job. after losing two its hard to put yourself back out there. Ideally if I can get my foot in the door somewhere I would enjoy working in the future that would make me extremely happy.

My goal for next year is to find a career or purpose in my education. One of the big problems I have right now is assessing why I don’t have what I want and how I am going to get that. Distractions from that main goal are running rampant for me, so the big thing would be to focus more on a couple things in my life. In order to get rid of those distractions that might possibly be steering me away from what I intended to be. I’m not sure what I am going to want to do yet for next year though I know how I want to handle it mentally.

Hey Finn, I see what you are saying and I think that just the fact that you know how you are going to handle it mentally is a huge and first step. If you take care of your mental life I am sure you are going to find what you really want. 🙂

I hope for next year things get better. Not just for myself but for the world, I want covid to be gone or at least under control and I want to have a good plan onto making sure the earth gets better (slow down climate change) and to just be better all together. For myself, I want to go back to school!!! I want to stay healthy and continue to grow in the right direction.

Hello everyone! How was your day? For the coming year as long as things go as planned I hope I get to move, and work at the kids summer camp. I really just want things to be more normal. I know that’s how most people feel but the year just depends on Covid for a lot of what I want

that’s a good point, covid does have a pretty heavy level on control on our day to day actions right now. but not all of it !!

For next year I will keep working toward my degree and enjoy every step I take even though it seems hard. I already set some goals like going to a new place at least once a month, trying something new at least once a month, and so on. For one second I thought “well one new thing every month can be hard” but once second later I remembered “If Mr. Foreman wrote one letter a day for four years, this is nothing”. I also hope that 2021 brings us more aware of act in our lives. With us I mean the humanity.

We satisfy our goals by making them attainable and never drifting from it. You can achieve what you want as long as you stick to it. If you do not give up and continue to strive for it, it will eventually happen. Many people who do not see the success of their goal immediately give up, but to attain your goals you must not give up on the journey. Pushing yourself is how you become better

My Goals is become a Doctor , I know I might have a lot ahead of me . But the way I satisfy my goal is picturing myself in the future . And seen myself , how I have actually overcome lots of obstacles. It has help me overcome my fears and my limitations I had on the past . And not knowing the language it had stopped me lots of times .

we satisfy our goals by keeping them in reach every single day and taking steps to pursue them. also by keeping a mental vision of what you want your future to hold and look like

We spend more time thinking about the goals and how to go about them rather than just moving, and creating that bridge that will get us to our There.

I agree, I think it has a bigger impact to just keep pushing forward. You know what you want so why keep reminding and dwelling on it. Just do it. A plan doesn’t always work out the way you want, but you control the direction

My goal right now is to get my things together and hopefully not go bankrupt on Christmas. The means to both of these is the same which is not spending my time or money on stupid things and living my life to the fullest.

Goals are hard. I like to start small with mine (don’t usually go that way) so I don’t get disappointed if something comes up. I feel like life is all about different kinds of goals, and they vary from each people but each one is an accomplishment when you get there.

I think the main goal I have for next year is to stop procrastinating. I know it sounds cliche alright, though just simply doing it is something I need to really just embrace. For me Tom also strongly expresses it not only in running but also in life and how he would never had what he did if he didn’t just put his head down and do it… just a thought for increasing my success as a student for next year.

People say, “Keep your goals realistic.” WTF? Who’s to say what’s realistic and what’s not? When you have reach-goals, and test yourself, that’s when you discover those REAL gems in your character and abilities.

I have seem people trying to break this believe on realistic goals. In fact what they say is you have to see your goals based on terms and how long you think you would get where you wanna go. So if you set short term goals you are gonna be motivated to achieve those
“unrealistic” (which is a BS for me)

I think something that really helps make goals come true is to stay passinate in what you believe. For example when I was in FFA I was so scared to run for an officer position, but I believe in the future of agriculture.

it is important to set goals, short term and long term goals but we should spend more time working toward them instead of overthinking how to get “there”. Life is so unpredictable. Things change, you change and your goals can change as well. So just keep moving

I think anything is possible, thus if you want anything you can go out and get it. At the same time though there are always going to be things that happen that can stop or slow you down from achieving it, often time even when you achieve the prized treasure that you dreamed of, you still want more than that. So after you pick that want, decide it on which journey you enjoy the most. In my mind an endless challenge is more rewarding then one with an end.

Goals are something that always seem distant to me until I actually achieve them. Sometimes working towards them feels like trying to scale mountain but most times if its worth doing it won’t be easy. I’ve gotten better at setting smaller goals to make achieving a larger goal more feasible rather than taking it on all at once. Overthinking is also a big part in my process of working because I feel its easy for most people to get inside their head and blow up an idea or issue into something its not.

Foreman to me seems more like a motivational person to me. His book makes me feel like I can climb a mountain as long as I put me head to it. I like how he has a little bit of morals ? I can’t think of the right word. But he runs for his daughter because it’s something they have in common and can bond over.
