ENGLISH 5 – 3/31/21

5-5:10pm:  How was your day?  What did you see?  Where were you?  What did you do?

*For tonight’s page:  There is always instruction right next to you and all around you.  Always.  Invariably.

Also, if you’re ever “bored”, or blocked with writing, YOUR writing, make it not so.  And yes, it’s that easy.

5:10-5:35pm:  How would you describe your story?  Don’t spoil anything, tell us a bit about your character.  Try to be removed in this answer, in your read of your own story. Read you as someone other than you.

*If this isn’t helping, the whole ‘not as you’ idea, then just write furiously unconcerned with any readers.  Put everything to page and edit what you want, later.

5:35-6pm:  Now what…..  Well, we keep going.  Thinking critically about our own composition… what do you learn from yourself, and how you write?  What have the first two authors taught you on considering your own story a little further?

6-6:20pm:  Continue the Comedic Consideration……. Have there been any times recently where you just had to laugh?  Did it help?  Why is humor valuable in finding Truth?

*Laugh at yourself, write the laughs then build off them … laughing at self for being stressed, and what the laughing does.. how do you see the stress now?  Even if it doesn’t work, keep trying.

6:20-6:30pm:  Close, the night’s page, YOU and your story, seeing truth and humor in your current room and frame.

Note…..  Anxiety can be defeated through humor.  Humor is Truth, it is also instructing and enriching, LIFE-SAVING.

ASSIGNMENT:  Write me a funny email.. make me laugh.  Any length.  The more impassioned and interested you appear to be in your own writing the more bloody credit you get.  Imagine that.

ASSIGNMENT:  Go learn about David Sedaris…..  Anything.  BUY THE BOOK IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY.

    Hi friends –
Today was tiring. I got a lot done, but despite how productive I am I still feel unworthy. My mind is heavy lately. I spend most of my time trying to just stay present.
Things that have helped me feel less like shit:
    – Yerba mate
    – Writing with a pencil and paper
    – My best friend
    – Orion’s belt
I want to write more lately. I do it a lot but today, recently, I just need a way to actualize what I am thinking and feeling. More than I need it usually.

My day today was good, we went to see Wingo, a ghost town near Sonoma. Very impressive to see an abandoned city in a place where housing is so wanted… I also went to see my horse and gave him a shower. It’s been such a beautiful day.

Today was a very productive day for me. I did a lot of research into my educational plan and scheduled my Covid-19 Vaccine. I was able to plot out my transfer requirements and figure out what exactly I want to do. It really helped my mental because I have been very stressed about my plans for the future and I wanted to try and confront the problem head on rather then postpone and let it keep eating at me

Today was pretty stressful for me. I got the 2nd dose of the Covid vaccine yesterday and it basically threw me around like a rag doll. On top of that, I had classes all day, where the majority announced large projects that will act like midterms. Right know im hoping to finish the out the day and zone out to whatever I find on Hulu.

My day was jam packed, it consisted of an early rise and a quick read through of a play for my acting class. I dropped of my car at the shop for some headlight maintenance and suggestions from my guy Dave. Then I got picked up by my best friend who got a new car that he was very excited about. We drive around while he practiced getting used to a manual transmission and stalled a couple times. We got some Starbucks and I went to class. I decided to do class outside today and it was nice to have a new perspective thanks to the benefits of online learning. After class I picked up my car and got some tacos with my bois. Cleaned the car and now I’m here!

Good evening! Why is it 80 degrees in March? Are you enjoying it, I sure am! I got a COVID test done today at work as it was “mandatory”. It’s funny that Dr. Fauci is right, folks who are inoculated can STILL catch the virus so as precaution we all got tested. It is my day “off” but still got paid two hours for coming in and getting my nostril swabbed. This is like the 10th test I’ve had to do for the company. It’s understandable but damn I am just exhausted from the pandemic. I think I need coffee right now. I have Death Wish, but I don’t want it… It really has no distinct or memorable flavor, it’s just very smooth, low acidity, and very powerful. Maybe I need a nap after class. I don’t know. I think I am thinking too much…

One of our turkeys has a hurt leg, so shes been sitting and resting today. Unfortunately, the toms are brutes and bully her. So i sat with her for a while. Some of the other hens actually puffed up like the toms do and pushed away the Toms.

I would describe my story as tragic irony, maybe. Or maybe growth and redemption. Maybe my written story wouldn’t even feature me as the agent delivering story. Maybe it would be my bed, that has seen me at my worst and gave me harbor when the rest of my environment was unsafe. Or maybe it would be my childhood toy, a bunny named Petra who I am currently reconstructing, but have had since I was an infant. My story would talk about my parents, how they met, how their decisions would effect my life later on. I would spend a lot of time describing the weather in each vignette of memory. I would talk about the different qualities of the seasons, days, hours. Cycles. And breaking those cycles. Re-framing what I previously felt within particular phases of those cycles.

Honestly my story would show that I’ve been traumatized and grew up with low self esteem. But not just that, I’ve been traumatized and I’ve also made it my mission to not let the way I grow up determine who I am as a person. Out of the trauma I grew ambitious and driven to remake my life into one that I actually want, and despite not fully believing I can do things I force myself to get up and fight for it anyway.
