5-5:10pm: Introduction, settle in. How’s the writing going? Have you touched your journal?
5:10-5:30pm: Questions about last class, the semester, the syllabus?
FOR TONIGHT’S PAGE: This experience in English 5 will decline for you if you excessively deliberate, rather than ACTUATE. Just move and create, contribute…
5:30-5:55pm: What did you choose to write about, and why? How did the writing start? How long did it take you? Did you learn anything about writing, your writing style and way?
5:55-6:20: Jenny Lawson…. What did you find? Have you started reading? Do you have expectations? Why, and what are they? If if not, what can you tell about her from your research?
6:20-6:30pm: Close…. What’s in your notes?
ASSIGNMENT: Read the first three chapters in Lawson’s book. Write and your journal and prepare to share ideas next class. Suggested…. Focus on her writing style, her voice, tone, attitude, what you think she wants us to do or how you think she wants us to react.
Also….. Be a participatory reader. That is, react as you go. Write in your journal, the margins, somewhere.

Sadly my books are supposed to come in the mail today so I have not started reading. Whenever I am reading something I expect to be intrigued to what I am reading in some way so get me to want to engage more. From researching Jenny Lawson I can tell that her books will be uplifting in some sort.

I wrote down the struggles that I faced while trying to write the 2 page paper. I figured that if a do a somewhat debrief after each paper, I may be able to find a reoccurring problem and try to address it. I also wrote down some stuff that other people made part of their writing process, like the idea of a brain dump on a paper to get all of the ideas out there

In my notes, I’ve got a lot of little things I’m going to use in my writing, and especially in my active reading and note taking. I also have a few things down for writing about thinking in the moment. It just dawned on me, it’s a little ironic to takes notes about thinking in the moment… to plan on writing about thinking in the moment. A bit meta.

Like other people my notes are also about Jenny Lawson, because I had to look her up a little and figure out what she was about. I also started the reading and I wrote down a quote that I really want to remember because it stuck with me and made me reflect on myself.

I think in my notes before I was focusing too much on what I was writing and what I think I should be writing rather than what I was thinking. So tonight, I’ll overthink less and write more! (I know I won’t be able to quit overthinking cold turkey but I’m going to do the best I can) I really enjoyed getting to see more of my classmates writing styles. It’s interesting how we are all experiencing similar difficulties as well as simplicities even though we may have never met and are on completely different paths. Thanks for a great class!

I am ready to read and annotate the SH:T out of this book just like I did with Kerouac’s. Also, getting the audiobook I hope… My notes will be hand written and organized in my folder and I will not settle for anything less. Discipline is getting it done even if I don’t want to. But, I do believe me. The question is, are my results going to be satisfactory? Or should I do more? In what sense… just start simple. Just start.
