5-5:10pm: Introduction, settle in. How’s the writing going? Have you touched your journal?
5:10-5:30pm: Questions about last class, the semester, the syllabus?
FOR TONIGHT’S PAGE: This experience in English 5 will decline for you if you excessively deliberate, rather than ACTUATE. Just move and create, contribute…
5:30-5:55pm: What did you choose to write about, and why? How did the writing start? How long did it take you? Did you learn anything about writing, your writing style and way?
5:55-6:20: Jenny Lawson…. What did you find? Have you started reading? Do you have expectations? Why, and what are they? If if not, what can you tell about her from your research?
6:20-6:30pm: Close…. What’s in your notes?
ASSIGNMENT: Read the first three chapters in Lawson’s book. Write and your journal and prepare to share ideas next class. Suggested…. Focus on her writing style, her voice, tone, attitude, what you think she wants us to do or how you think she wants us to react.

Also….. Be a participatory reader. That is, react as you go. Write in your journal, the margins, somewhere.
Look up something on Lawson right now, on Google or something. What is the first bit of info you find?
“Be proud of the uniquely beautiful way that you are broken.” – thebloggess.com
….ahem, what? But, I just wanted to be perfect? Not…(yet) never…stop breaking yourself more.
In my notes, I’m going to copy the blog and copy my answers so I don’t have to keep scrolling and write about Jenny Laawsons style and her comedic outlook on life.
Sadly my books are supposed to come in the mail today so I have not started reading. Whenever I am reading something I expect to be intrigued to what I am reading in some way so get me to want to engage more. From researching Jenny Lawson I can tell that her books will be uplifting in some sort.
my boyfriend lost my creditcard yesterday…. awaiting my new one but my books will probably be late since I have to wait to get a new card…
Uh oh…..
I hope that this semester will help me find my voice and feel a little bit more like myself. I am also just always striving to improve my writing and I love sharing.
Devote yourself to your work and it will.
I will get both copies one audible and and hardcover so I can really let her work sink in, the racoon is interesting though
Good idea!!
Look for notions of travel in her work…
The first bit of info I find after looking up Jenny Lawson is that her husband is named Victor Lawson and she was born December 29th, 1973.
She is the author of a popular blog called the Bloggess and was a finalist in the Weblog awards for best writer and most humorous writer in 2010
First thing that comes up is her blog, it is a good place to find out about her.
Thank you!!
First thing I found about Jenny Lawson was that she was a #1 New York Times Best Selling author, receiving a myriad of awards in her lifetime.
Let me ask you this… What do you want the book to do?
Want or let?
I think this book will be a beacon to allowing me to settle more deeply and comfortably into myself.
All of the above…
I found her Instagram. I also found the funny cat videos she saves.
Those are great!
The first thing that comes up on google after searching her up is “New York Times best seller author” she must be a big author surprised that I haven’t heard of her
Alright y’all… let’s close it up. What’s on tonight’s page?
i wrote in my notebook that i was going to reward my challenging day at work with self care in the form of a few games however for my evening downtime i will instead make some hot sizzlin tea and start reading furiously happy now, at least 5 pages.
ohhh oops didn’t respond correctly
All good. The post was positive.. much appreciated.
Have a great night, and enjoy your tea, and the reading!! 🙂
thank you, have a great night as well!
My notes have lots of ideas for random journal entries as well as things to look for while reading Lawson’s book.
Find time to yourself, your creative and your visions for yourself and your life. It’s ALL yours.
I wrote down the struggles that I faced while trying to write the 2 page paper. I figured that if a do a somewhat debrief after each paper, I may be able to find a reoccurring problem and try to address it. I also wrote down some stuff that other people made part of their writing process, like the idea of a brain dump on a paper to get all of the ideas out there
Good to study your writing practice and habits, always. 🙂
On tonight’s page I wrote about Jenny Lawson, anything and everything I could find on the internet. I wrote some notes that you said to pay attention to earlier in the meeting. I wrote about tonight’s notes goal. And I started writing about what happened in the meeting tonight.
My notes contain little pieces of thoughts that came up when reading other people’s comments and about the author and the book.
Tonights page consists of lots of instructor quotes
Also lots of random thoughts of mine
Reminders about the homework and how to be prepared for next class
Some questions for Lawson and some motivation to get this A
On tonights page “Create our own habits even if you have them already.” I love this, we can always do better!
Very true!! Have a great night!
Have a good night!!
In my notes, I’ve got a lot of little things I’m going to use in my writing, and especially in my active reading and note taking. I also have a few things down for writing about thinking in the moment. It just dawned on me, it’s a little ironic to takes notes about thinking in the moment… to plan on writing about thinking in the moment. A bit meta.
There is magic in the meta.
That’s what I was thinking! Thinking of ideas on how to not overthink
In my notes, I have about two pages down. I have a bunch of bullet points about being yourself and trusting the process when it comes to writing. I wrote about Lawson and how I’m excited to read her book.
thank you have a good night
You as well!!
My notes include “for tonights page “and a couple sentences on Jenny Lawson. Have a good night!
What I wrote on my notes tonight is just a reminder about the chapters that I have to read by weds as well with a side note to get highlighters since I like to color code my readings and write my thoughts about each paragraphs as I read.
Sounds good!
In my notes I wrote tips for myself and a goal to start writing in my journal daily to express my thoughts.
Tonight’s page is full of emphasis on letting thoughts flow freely. Looking at what can be accomplished when limitations are removed. Information about Lawson and the potential of what her book will bring me.
Excellent!! Have a great night!!
Like other people my notes are also about Jenny Lawson, because I had to look her up a little and figure out what she was about. I also started the reading and I wrote down a quote that I really want to remember because it stuck with me and made me reflect on myself.
I think in my notes before I was focusing too much on what I was writing and what I think I should be writing rather than what I was thinking. So tonight, I’ll overthink less and write more! (I know I won’t be able to quit overthinking cold turkey but I’m going to do the best I can) I really enjoyed getting to see more of my classmates writing styles. It’s interesting how we are all experiencing similar difficulties as well as simplicities even though we may have never met and are on completely different paths. Thanks for a great class!
Thank YOU Janessa!!! Have an amazing night and day tomorrow!!!!
Have a great night, everyone!!! Make this semester what you want. You have that ability. And if you think you don’t, you need to have a conversation with that side of you saying you can’t, and tell it to STFU.
So inspirational haha
Have a great night.
In my notes: embrace your free will when writing and try to avoid being contained or limited as much as possible. Read and take many notes on the reading, and examine the character.
In my notes, I wrote down that when I begin to read capture the moment of feeling and thought by writing it down
So we just send you a picture of our journal about the the 3 chapters by Wednesday, right?
If you want, yes!!
notes on the different questions tonight, some notes about Jenny Lawson, homework, examine author.
I am ready to read and annotate the SH:T out of this book just like I did with Kerouac’s. Also, getting the audiobook I hope… My notes will be hand written and organized in my folder and I will not settle for anything less. Discipline is getting it done even if I don’t want to. But, I do believe me. The question is, are my results going to be satisfactory? Or should I do more? In what sense… just start simple. Just start.
